In the new series All Her Fault, Sarah Snook plays Marissa, a mother facing every parent's worst nightmare when her five-year-old son Milo disappears after an apparent playdate that never happened.
Snook shared with Deadline,
“When they gave me the book and I read it and found out what the twist was, I couldn’t say no, it was just so juicy and there’s so much to explore.”
As the story progresses, it becomes evident that someone close to the family is involved in Milo’s disappearance. Marissa, alongside her friend Jenny (played by Dakota Fanning) and her husband (Jake Lacy), must confront truths that challenge everything she thought she knew.
Both Snook and Fanning highlight the show's focus on the unequal division of responsibilities in their characters' households. Despite managing their careers, the women still bear the majority of childcare and domestic duties.
The series examines how even Milo’s abduction is framed as something the women implicitly allowed, hence the title All Her Fault.
“I think it’s a conversation that’s been certainly happening in my life, in my friendship circles for the last, certainly five years at least, and coming more to the public forefront, about the invisible labor that women tend to take on in a relationship that has children involved.” – Sarah Snook
Author’s summary: The show All Her Fault uncovers how women often carry invisible burdens in relationships, especially in balancing parenting, household work, and careers under intense pressures.
