The equation is clear for Lorenzo Musetti: a victory at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Hellenic Championship would secure him a place at the Nitto ATP Finals. The Italian, ninth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, aims to surpass Felix Auger-Aliassime and clinch that coveted Turin ticket.
“It’s been a tremendous season so far. If I look back to all the achievements and goals that we achieved this year, it’s so far my biggest season in my career,”
Musetti told ATPTour.com, expressing satisfaction with his progress yet emphasizing that one key goal remains unfulfilled. He is focused on ending the year by qualifying for the season-ending championships.
“And of course there is still one goal that I am talking about. We’re going to see after this week what’s going to happen, but I’m here also for that and to try to take the spot.”
For Musetti, Athens represents both an opportunity and a challenge. As the second seed, he must balance his determination to qualify with the mental composure required to perform under pressure.
“It’s something that is not easy. I’m trying not to think too much of the calculations, but I know I have to win the tournament to be guaranteed in Turin. The goal is always to win the tournament, so the goal doesn’t change much.”
Musetti enters Athens motivated and focused, aware that a final push could turn his strong season into a breakthrough year with a debut at the Nitto ATP Finals.
