Mel Tracina is preparing to leave her Melbourne life behind to pursue her dream role hosting the eagerly awaited return of Big Brother Australia on the Gold Coast. The 36-year-old Nova presenter and cultural correspondent from The Cheap Seats is thrilled to revive the show that shaped a generation of Australian reality TV fans.
“I’m feeling as excited as every other OG fan,” Mel says with a laugh. “There’s that moment where I have to remind myself that I don’t get to sit at home and watch it – I’m working!”
Mel fondly recalls the original series’ magic, which featured 24/7 live filming and many spontaneous moments that captivated viewers. She hopes the new season will produce similar iconic scenes.
“It just takes somebody being organic,” Mel reflects on Sara-Marie Fedele’s famous bum dance. “At the time, you didn’t know it would become a part of Aussie culture, like the saying: ‘Game on, moles.’ That authenticity is what we latch onto.”
Another aspect Mel enjoyed was the love stories that blossomed from the close quarters of the housemates. “I loved the love stories,” she reminisces.
Mel Tracina eagerly steps into her new role hosting Big Brother Australia, celebrating the show's authentic moments and unforgettable romances that defined its original run.
