Channel 9’s chief footy reporter, Tom Morris, has made a surprising switch to rival network Channel 7. The 34-year-old informed Channel 9 on Friday morning that he accepted a lucrative offer from Channel 7, according to Code Sports.
The successful recruitment was reportedly led by Seven’s head of sport, Chris Jones, and SEN boss Craig Hutchison. Morris will join a strong lineup of top footy talent at Channel 7.
Morris is not expected to take on a major on-air position, as Channel 7’s current chief footy reporter Mitch Cleary will remain in that role. However, Morris will form a strong trio alongside Cleary and Xander McGuire, who also recently moved from Nine.
