Livinia Nixon to Sign Off From 9News Weather
After twenty years as one of Melbourne's most beloved weather presenters, Livinia Nixon has announced her decision to step down from her role on 9News Melbourne to spend more time with her family. Her final broadcast will take place on Tuesday, November 18.
Two Decades with Nine Network
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and has presented the weather for 9News Melbourne since 2004. During her tenure, she became a familiar and trusted face for viewers across Victoria.
Focusing on Family
With her sons entering senior school years, Nixon shared that she wants to be more present at home and support them through this important stage of life.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Continuing with Nine
Although stepping away from the weather desk, Livinia Nixon will continue her work with the Nine Network as part of the travel programs Getaway and Postcards, where she remains a treasured member of the team.
