After more than two decades with Nine News, television presenter Livinia Nixon has decided to step back from her role as weather presenter. She will continue her work with the network on the lifestyle programs Postcards and Getaway.
“After two decades in the 9Newsroom, I’ve made the difficult decision to step back from my current role,” she shared on Instagram. “As you know, the juggle of modern life is unrelenting and I need to spend more time with my boys.”
“Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being in your lounge rooms every night. I haven’t always got the forecast right, but hey, that’s Melbourne for you! I’m proud to be leaving on a high and will be cheering 9News on from the sidelines.”
“I’ll always be grateful to Channel 9 for understanding my situation and supporting my decision. I’ll remain at 9 filming stories for Getaway and Postcards. As my boys said, ‘We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ My final weather report will be November 18.”
Hugh Nailon, Nine’s National News Director, said, “Livinia’s contribution to the Melbourne newsroom has been immeasurable. She has been a shining star on 9News for two decades, delivering Melbourne’s weather with warmth, expertise and unmatched professionalism. We are all incredibly proud of her and fully support her decision to put family first. She remains a valued member of the 9Network through her ongoing work on Getaway and Postcards.”
Livinia Nixon ends her 21-year run at Nine News to focus on family while continuing her TV journey with Postcards and Getaway, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and professionalism.
