The Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr opened up about the emotional fallout from his betrayal of friend and co-star Paloma Faith on the BBC series. The shocking twist became one of the show's most talked-about moments.
“It was awful. So awful, and weird because I love Paloma. I'm a fan of her music, I've been a fan of her for ages and we're friends, it absolutely, really hurt,” said Alan.
Speaking on the spin-off show Uncloaked, Alan admitted he felt deep guilt and apologized publicly to Paloma, telling her he was “so sorry.”
Paloma shared her sadness but also expressed why she believed Alan deserved his victory, calling him a worthy winner despite the emotional turmoil. Earlier in the series, she had been “murdered” in plain sight by the Traitors — discovering later that Alan had been behind it left her furious and heartbroken.
After Alan’s betrayal was revealed, many of the show's participants and viewers questioned how he could turn against his close friend. Yet, when Alan was crowned the eventual winner, he broke down in tears, confessing that winning felt bittersweet because of the lies and deception necessary to succeed.
He ultimately triumphed over fellow finalists David Olusoga and Nick Mohammed, securing the prize for his chosen charity.
Alan Carr emotionally apologized to Paloma Faith after his shocking betrayal on Celebrity Traitors, calling it painful but necessary for the game, and expressing genuine remorse.
