Seven neighbours from Brookmans Park's AL9 6PT postcode will share a £1 million prize from the People's Postcode Lottery's weekly draw. The postcode won the "Millionaire Street" prize, with two households receiving £249,999 each (three tickets), one household £166,666 (two tickets), and four households £83,333 each (one ticket).
Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, promised to donate part of his £249,999 prize, shared with his wife Olesya, to a local charity supporting adults with learning difficulties. He said:
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.”
On October 9, Camphill Milton Keynes, the charity in question, reported that its only minibus had been stolen and later found set on fire. Steven added that although the bus was insured, the coverage would not fully cover the cost of a replacement and hoped others might also contribute.
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”
Lucy Davies, Camphill Milton Keynes' head of development, described the incident as very distressing for the residents, who have found the situation deeply upsetting and confusing.
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”
