Lightroom Introduces the Color Variance Slider
Lightroom's new Color Variance slider offers a quick way to balance skin tones or enhance color contrast in photos. This feature is particularly beneficial for photographers who frequently work with portraits and weddings.
How Color Variance Works
The Color Variance slider adjusts the variety within a selected color range. Moving the slider one way smooths out color differences, useful for reducing redness in skin caused by heat or rosacea. Moving it the other way increases color contrast, making it ideal for landscapes and other vibrant scenes.
Usage and Location
Color Variance is part of the Point Color tool, available in both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. It can be applied to an entire photo or selectively using masks, such as targeting only skin tones.
- Access the Point Color tool in the Color Mixer tab within the Develop module.
- Use the eyedropper icon to select the color you want to adjust.
- Adjust the sliders to create the desired effect on that color range.
