Several Killed, Injured in Renewed RSF Shelling on Sudan’s South Kordofan

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied fighters bombed several neighborhoods in Dilling city, South Kordofan, Sudan, causing multiple deaths and injuries, according to medical sources.

Witnesses reported that the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) shelled various parts of the city. Medical teams confirmed casualties but did not provide exact numbers.

Local witnesses said the Sudanese army responded with artillery fire targeting RSF positions northeast of Dilling. Earlier reports indicated that both the RSF and SPLM-N sent military reinforcements near the city. Neither side immediately commented on these developments.

On Thursday, artillery shelling by SPLM killed at least six people, including a child, in Dilling, which remains under a strict RSF siege.

Conflict has intensified across the three Kordofan states recently, forcing thousands of civilians to flee their homes for safety.

On October 26, the RSF captured El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, and reportedly committed massacres against civilians, as documented by local and international organizations. This escalation raises fears of Sudan’s geographical division solidifying.

Since April 15, 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been engaged in ongoing conflict, despite efforts by regional and international mediators to resolve the war.
