Rugged schedule, Steph Curry’s illness force Warriors to take early precautions

Rugged Schedule and Steph Curry’s Illness Prompt Early Precautions for Warriors

Head coach Steve Kerr has announced that point guard Steph Curry will not play in Wednesday’s game in Sacramento. Curry had been battling a worsening cold for several days, which was visible as he coughed and sniffled during his postgame press conference after the Warriors' 118-107 victory over Phoenix at Chase Center.

Although Curry acknowledged the illness impacted his performance, he initially had not ruled himself out for the next game, saying he was usually reluctant to sit. However, Kerr decided otherwise.

"I don’t care what the doctors say, we got to get him some rest. I’ll make the decision right now, he’s not going to play tomorrow."

The Warriors, currently holding a 5-3 record, will also possibly be without key wing Jimmy Butler. Butler played through lower back soreness in the first half but aggravated it, leading to his exit during halftime after only 14 minutes.
