Gavin and Stacey Star Alison Steadman Shares Recovery Update After Fall

Actress Alison Steadman, known for her role as Pam Shipman in the BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey, has shared an update on her recovery after sustaining serious injuries from a fall earlier this year. The 79-year-old revealed that the incident occurred when she tripped on uneven pavement outside a restaurant in Dubai, leading to a fractured leg and a broken hand.

"That fall was just terrible, shocking – it was an awful time. I’ve got to have another operation on my foot soon, to take the metal screws out of it. But I’ve finally just stopped using a stick, which is great – I am walking again, hurrah!"

Speaking about the accident, Alison reflected on how severe it could have been.

"I knew when I fell that it was serious. If I’d banged my head the way I banged my foot, I promise you, I would not be here. Every time I get fed up, I say that to myself. The important thing is that I’m alive."

Six months after the incident, Alison admitted she has moments of frustration with her recovery pace but remains grateful for her progress and continued improvement. Besides her celebrated work in Gavin and Stacey, Steadman is also remembered for her portrayal of Mrs Bennet in the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
