Several major airlines have introduced more flexible options for rebooking delayed or canceled flights due to new FAA restrictions expected to intensify through the weekend.
Boston's Logan Airport is among 40 U.S. airports that may see reduced flights to help ensure the safety of the national airspace, according to the Massachusetts Port Authority. These restrictions announced by the FAA are set to start on Friday.
A Massport representative said they were waiting for details from the FAA on which flights will be affected but had already noticed some delays on Thursday evening. The agency expects disruptions and advises passengers to verify their flight status before heading to the airport.
"Delta says customers traveling to, from or through the impacted markets during the impacted travel period can change, cancel or refund their flights, including Delta Main Basic fares, without penalty during this travel period."
"United says any customer traveling during this period is eligible for a refund if they do not wish to fly - even if their flight isn't impacted. That includes non-refundable tickets and those customers with basic economy tickets."
