Georgia Football Brotherhood Supports Mark Richt’s Charity Fighting Parkinson’s
The Georgia Bulldogs football community united this week for a meaningful cause, bringing together current players and legendary alumni. They gathered to support former coach Mark Richt’s ongoing battle against Parkinson’s disease through the annual Dawg Bowl event.
Annual Dawg Bowl Charity Event
Held on Wednesday, the Dawg Bowl is a bowling fundraiser benefiting the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research. Proceeds from the event will assist in research efforts for Parkinson’s and Crohn’s diseases. Mark Richt, diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2021, organized the event to raise both funds and awareness.
Strong Support from Players and Coaches
Former players showed tremendous support for their coach. Richt shared with DawgsHQ,
“Every one of the guys I asked said yes.”
He expressed deep gratitude for the solid turnout.
Current head coach Kirby Smart permitted his active roster to participate, strengthening the bond between different program generations. Smart, who once coached running backs under Richt in 2005, continues to uphold many of Richt’s foundational traditions.
Enduring Bonds Among Alumni and Players
Among the alumni present was former All-American David Pollack, whose attendance highlighted the lasting connections within the Bulldog family. Former running back Tyson Browning commented on the event’s significance by noting the value of older players feeling engaged in the program’s life.
