Swedish Engineering Firm Alfa Laval Emphasizes China as Key Market

At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Alfa Laval, a Swedish engineering and service powerhouse, reiterated its strong dedication to China, naming it the company’s most significant market.

Leadership Insights at CIIE

During an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), CEO Tom Erixon and CFO Fredrik Ekstrom shared their perspectives on China’s pivotal role for Alfa Laval’s business and the global energy transition.

“Sometimes it’s important that we, as a team, experience the same thing. It’s very much a learning experience from what is for us the most important market in the world, China,” said Erixon.

“I think it’s a mix of meeting government officials, it’s meeting our customers, and of course, it’s expanding our view of what’s happening in China at the same time because when you look around, you really get a true sense of how important China is as a market for the rest of the world and why it’s important for us to be here as well. In fact, it’s 20 percent of our turnover. But more importantly, we look at it as a future market because China leads the global energy transition right now,” Ekstrom noted.

Strategic Long-Term Planning

Erixon emphasized the influence of China’s Five-Year Plans on Alfa Laval’s strategy, describing them as “very predictive of what’s actually going to happen,” which aids in shaping the company’s long-term planning.

Key Facts

Summary: Alfa Laval confirms China as its most important market, driven by its significant turnover share and China’s leading role in the global energy transition, shaping the company’s strategic direction.
