Gospel Reflection - Sunday, November 9, 2025

Jesus cleanses the temple, confronting corruption with prophetic courage—an event that leads him toward his crucifixion.

Vision of the Temple and Flowing Water

Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple, where water flowed from beneath the threshold toward the east, as the temple faced east. The water came down from the south end of the temple’s threshold, south of the altar.

He led me out through the north gate and around the outside to the outer gate facing east. The water was emerging on the south side.

He said to me, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; when it enters the sea, the sea of stagnant waters, it becomes fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living creature that swarms will survive, and there will be many fish. The water will bring life wherever it goes."

Life Along the River Banks

On both sides of the river banks, all kinds of food-bearing trees will grow. Their leaves will never wither, nor will their fruit fail; they will bear fresh fruit each month because the water flows from the sanctuary. The fruit will serve as food, and the leaves will provide healing.

Faith Amidst Turmoil

Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth changes, though mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, and the mountains tremble with its tumult.

This reflection calls us to trust in the sustaining power of God’s life-giving presence, even amid disruption and uncertainty.
