Korean Singer Hyuna Collapses On Stage At Music Festival In Macau, Apologises To Fans

Korean Singer HyunA Collapses on Stage in Macau

The unexpected incident has drawn attention to concerns over HyunA’s health and the pressure faced by artists in the K-pop industry. South Korean performer HyunA fainted during her set at the Waterbomb 2025 music festival in Macau on Sunday, November 9.

Collapse During Performance

According to CNA, HyunA was performing her popular track "Bubble Pop!" when she suddenly lost consciousness and fell to the stage floor. Backup dancers immediately rushed to assist her, and security staff quickly carried her off stage. The concert was paused following the incident.

Health and Industry Pressure

The event sparked widespread discussion about the demanding beauty standards within the K-pop scene. HyunA recently disclosed on Instagram that she had lost 10 kilograms (about 22 pounds) in a single month through a strict diet, after facing pregnancy rumors due to weight gain following her marriage in October 2024.

She has a medical history of vasovagal syncope, diagnosed in 2020 — a condition that can cause sudden drops in blood pressure and heart rate, often triggered by stress, exhaustion, or intense dieting. Health experts note that such rapid weight loss can result in fatigue and nutritional deficiencies, potentially contributing to the collapse.

Apology to Fans

"I'm truly, truly sorry..."

After regaining consciousness and resting, HyunA addressed her fans, known as “A-ings,” through Instagram, expressing deep regret and gratitude for their concern.

Author’s Summary

HyunA’s on-stage collapse reignited concern over extreme beauty pressures and health risks in the K-pop industry, highlighting the need for safer standards for performers.
