The HBO Max series "I Love LA" has quickly gained popularity since its premiere on November 2. The show's creators, Rachel Sennott and Emma Barrie, included a surprising cameo for viewers in the second episode, featuring their close friend Ayo Edebiri.
While speaking with Deadline, Rachel Sennott discussed Ayo Edebiri’s part in the project and how the collaboration came about. The idea for Edebiri’s character began over a video call, with Sennott pitching an eccentric pop star role that Edebiri later shaped with her trademark humor.
Emma Barrie noted that Ayo chose to portray her delusional pop star as British, adding a playful layer to the performance.
The creative process between Sennott and Edebiri was described as highly collaborative, blending both actresses' comedic instincts to refine the character’s personality and quirks.
Ayo Edebiri isn’t the only name drawing attention this season. Leighton Meester, recognized for her role in Gossip Girl, joins the cast as the boss of Sennott’s character.
In an interview with Bustle, Rachel Sennott praised Meester as both an idol and a co-star she deeply admires.
