Queensland’s Cross Border Commissioner and former police union leader Ian Leavers has died suddenly, prompting an outpouring of tributes.
Mr. Leavers, aged 58, was a former long-time president of the state’s police union and is remembered as a prominent and influential figure.
“Ian Leavers was a dedicated, principled and driven individual who earned the respect of Queenslanders for always standing up for the police service he loved,” said Premier David Crisafulli.
