Sally Kirkland Is in Hospice After Dementia Diagnosis and Life-Threatening Infections

Sally Kirkland, the 84-year-old actress known for her role in Bruce Almighty, is now in hospice care. She was hospitalized in Palm Springs following a dementia diagnosis in 2024, confirmed by her representative Michael Greene. Her former student and friend, Cody Galloway, remains by her side.

“Our beloved friend, Sally Kirkland, has graced the stage and screen, inspiring audiences and lifting the spirits of countless many both in and out of the Hollywood community as an actress, teacher, and minister.”

During the past year, Sally suffered fractures in four bones—her neck, right wrist, and left hip. While recovering, she developed two separate life-threatening infections. These injuries and infections have led to prolonged hospital stays and rehabilitation that exceed the 100 days covered by insurance.

“As the days pass, lack of proper care greatly diminishes Sally’s chance of a full recovery. However, with the right medical support, we know she has a strong chance of overcoming this setback and returning to the work she loves.”

A GoFundMe campaign highlights Sally’s impact as an actress, teacher, and minister and aims to gather support for her ongoing medical needs.

Her condition remains serious, with the need for continuous medical care essential to improve her recovery outcome.
