Sara Cox’s Challenge for Children In Need
BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox is participating in the Great Northern Marathon Challenge to raise funds for Children In Need. Starting on Monday, November 10, she will cover 135 miles on foot, crossing four counties: Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire. This distance equals running five marathons over five days.
Sara will run, jog, and walk through varied terrain including moorlands, steep ridges, and rolling hills, supported by towns, villages, and Radio 2 listeners. Her husband and three children will be cheering her on during the challenge.

Originally from Bolton in Greater Manchester, Sara lives in London with her family and several pets, including dogs and cats. She is a passionate animal lover.
Before her broadcasting career, Sara pursued modeling and featured on Channel 4's The Girlie Show. She later gained wider recognition through presenting roles on MTV and The Big Breakfast. Sara also regularly hosts BBC One’s Morning Live.
Personal Relationships
Sara has experienced heartbreak, including splitting from her first husband. She married DJ Jon Carter in October 2001 at a private ceremony in North London.
