The Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox is undertaking a tough 135-mile challenge to support Children in Need. The Bolton-born presenter is embarking on a five-day journey that begins in Kielder Forest near the Scottish borders and finishes in Pudsey, Leeds, on Friday.
Sara follows the footsteps of her Radio 2 colleague Paddy McGuinness, who raised £10 million last year with a demanding cycling challenge, but she will complete her challenge on foot.
Sara's "Great Northern Marathon Challenge" involves running, jogging, and walking across hills and moorlands. She will carry the iconic Pudsey bear throughout the route, aiming to bring "Pudsey" to Pudsey for the Children in Need broadcast on BBC One Friday night.
“We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!”
“When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure.”
