Forecasters predict that a weather system moving toward southern Ontario this weekend will bring the season's first snow to many areas. After several days of unseasonably warm fall weather, temperatures are set to drop significantly in the coming days.
This change is likely to bring the first notable snow to the region, including the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
“It’s been actually a very quiet season so far for the greater Golden Horseshoe, but that’s about to change,” said Gerald Cheng, Environment Canada warning preparedness meteorologist, in an interview with National Post.
Regions north of Toronto, as well as Ottawa and parts of Quebec, are expected to receive even heavier snowfall.
While forecast models are still adjusting, the trend indicates a significant winter arrival with snowfall amounts possibly reaching up to 15 cm in some parts of the GTA.
