Trump says the US lacks talent, needs foreign workers

President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of skilled foreign workers for the U.S. economy, arguing that the country currently lacks enough qualified professionals to fill key positions.

In an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, Trump stated that while some believe the United States has sufficient talent, he disagrees. Despite implementing stricter immigration policies, he noted that the H-1B visa system remains vital for bringing in highly skilled specialists.

“America doesn’t have enough talented workers to fill jobs domestically,” Trump said. “The H-1B visa program helps fill that void and allows professionals to come into the country.”

Trump referenced a September Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid at a Hyundai facility in Georgia as an example of how crucial foreign expertise is. He described how hundreds of South Korean specialists, who had long experience manufacturing batteries, were forced to leave the U.S. after the raid.

“In Georgia, they raided because they wanted illegal immigrants out. They had people from South Korea that made batteries all their life,” Trump explained. “Making batteries is complicated and dangerous. These people were training others, and then they were told to leave the country.”

According to reports, hundreds of South Korean contractors were detained and deported due to visa issues. In September, Trump signed an executive order requiring all H-1B applicants to pay a $100,000 application fee.

Summary

Trump reaffirmed that the U.S. workforce lacks enough skilled talent and emphasized the H-1B program as essential for maintaining innovation and competitiveness.
