The Solway Holiday Park in Silloth, Cumbria, has entered administration just over three years after being acquired by Cove UK in September 2023. The park is among 11 holiday sites across the UK affected by this development.
Administrators were officially appointed on November 17. The administrators are Adam Paxton and Rob Croxen from the professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP. They have been named as Joint Administrators for Cove Communities Holiday Park UK Holdco Limited (HPUK) and its three subsidiaries: Cove Communities Venture 2 Gwel an Mor OpCo Ltd, Cove Communities Venture 2 Solway OpCo Ltd, and Cove Communities Venture 2 Springwood OpCo Ltd.
According to 2024 planning documents, Solway Holiday Park contains 320 static caravans, 60 holiday chalets, and two residential caravan areas. The central village area features reception facilities, bars and restaurants, an indoor swimming pool, a children’s play zone, and administrative offices.
In September 2022, Hagans Leisure announced its decision to sell several of its properties to Cove UK, including The Solway Holiday Village, Meadow View Residential Park, and Lido Residential Park.
The company said the sale aimed to bring investment into the park and take the Cumbrian holiday site “to the next level.”
Plans for significant upgrades to the site were subsequently submitted in 2023, showing ambition to refresh and expand the park’s facilities before the recent financial challenges emerged.
The Solway Holiday Park in Cumbria has gone into administration just three years after its high-profile sale to Cove UK, affecting several related holiday sites across the country.
