Seattle Kennel Employee Charged with Animal Cruelty

A Seattle kennel employee, Dejean Cornelius Bowens, has been charged with first-degree animal cruelty after allegedly brutally attacking a dog under his care, resulting in the animal's death.

The incident occurred on August 3 at Lazy Dog Crazy Dog, a dog boarding facility in the Ballard neighborhood, where Bowens was working. According to charging documents, Bowens became irritable when a black Labrador named Mitch knocked something over around 4:20 a.m.

The dog's death was a result of the brutal attack by Bowens.

Bowens was formally charged on September 29 by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
