Radiohead have postponed two dates of their long-awaited European tour after lead singer Thom Yorke was struck by what the band described as an “extreme throat infection.”
The affected concerts were scheduled to take place in Denmark later this week. According to a brief statement shared on the band’s official channels, new dates will be announced once Yorke has recovered enough to perform again.
“We are deeply sorry to postpone these shows,” the message read. “Thom is under medical care and needs time to rest his voice. We appreciate your understanding and support.”
Fans, many of whom had been waiting for Radiohead’s first major run of shows in years, expressed concern and well-wishes online. Ticket holders have been advised that all tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performances.
This tour marks Radiohead’s first extended return to live stages across Europe since before the pandemic. The band had recently played a series of acclaimed festival warm-up sets, fueling excitement for the full tour.
“It’s been incredible being back on stage together again,” Yorke said during an earlier show in Spain, before falling ill.
