Excavation Works Begin for Uzbekistan Small Modular Reactor

About 1.5 million cubic meters of soil will be excavated during the digging of a pit 13 meters deep for the RITM-200N small modular reactor being built in Uzbekistan.

A ceremony marked the beginning of the excavation, attended by notable figures including Pavel Bezrukov, Abdujamil Kalmuratov, and Ulugbek Mustafoyev.

Today marks the beginning of a new phase in the implementation of the nuclear power generation project in Uzbekistan. As with all our international projects, the construction is designed with a high degree of localization. The work is being carried out by Uzbek subcontractors.

Alexei Likhachev, director general of Rosatom, emphasized the significance of localization in the project.
