Crews Respond to Multiple Structure Fires in Holyoke

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incidents, but the Holyoke Fire Department reported two notable fires.

The department responded to several small fires on Monday. One incident occurred at 115 Newton Street around noon, where crews found a small fire in an abandoned building and quickly extinguished it. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

In another incident, crews responded to the Salvation Army building on Appleton Street just before 7:00 Monday night. Firefighters encountered smoke around the boiler and chimney area. Although an official investigation is underway, firefighters suspect that a faulty boiler was the cause of the fire.
