Zimbabwe's Health and Child Care deputy minister, Sleiman Kwidini, attributes the decline of the local pharmaceutical manufacturing industry to Western-imposed sanctions.
Kwidini cited companies such as Datlab and Caps Pharmaceuticals as major casualties during a question-and-answer session in Parliament.
We have been discussing this issue for more than 20 years.
He noted that the country did not face such challenges before the sanctions era.
The minister's statement was in response to questions from legislators on the collapse of once-thriving local drug manufacturers.
Sanctions hurt Zimbabwe's health sector, says minister.
