Indigenous Australian Senator Criticizes King Charles III
An Indigenous senator has intensified her criticism of King Charles III, accusing the British monarch of complicity in the “genocide” against Australia’s First Peoples.
Australian Senator Lidia Thorpe disrupted a parliamentary reception hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, shouting at the King about British colonizers taking Indigenous land and bones.
She declared she will not be “shut down” after being escorted out of the reception.
Senator Thorpe's comments followed the encounter with the monarch on Monday.
