Drunk Driving Arrests Continue Despite Faulty Breath Tests

Despite the stoppage of faulty breath tests, drunk driving arrests continue around the area. Between Friday and Monday, over 82 people were charged with DUIs around the state.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension ordered officers to stop using the DataMaster tests until agencies verify the gas cylinder data is correctly entered into each instrument.

The current problem started when officers either put a gas cylinder into the wrong machine or installed the cylinder incorrectly.

Officials said it remains unclear how wide-ranging the issue is, when it began, and how many cases might be affected.
