Mark Mikel, the former executive director of the Family Christian Development Center, also known as The Center, has retired after serving since 2014.

According to Mikel,
“We are the food pantry, rental utilities assistance, clothing closet, medication assistance, and we do baby immunizations for Nappanee, Wakarusa and Wa-Nee Community Schools,”highlighting the organization's importance to the community.
The Center was founded in 1996 by JoAnne and Larry Andrews, who were inspired by their faith to open a food pantry. As Mikel notes,
“And it’s always been based around the belief that sharing Christ’s love is what helps people not just meet their immediate needs but see some change in their lives,”reflecting the organization's mission.
During Mikel's tenure as executive director,
“We have doubled the budget,”he says, indicating significant growth and improvement under his leadership.
