UAB Taps Alex Mortensen as Interim Head Coach
Alex Mortensen, hired as the team's offensive coordinator in 2023, has been named the UAB interim head coach after Trent Dilfer was relieved of his duties.

Mortensen expressed his gratitude to Dilfer and acknowledged the circumstances of his new role. Athletic Director Mark Ingram stated they are excited to have Mortensen lead the program for the next six games, citing the team's well-documented success on offense under his coordination.
The Blazers currently sit at 2-4 (0-3) for the year. Mortensen is thankful for the opportunity to lead the team.
