Lancashire-based confectioner, Stockley’s, has invested in a new 60,000 sq ft site as part of its growth plans.
The privately-owned sweets producer has moved into the new facility following consistent growth over the last several years. The UK sugar confectionery market has seen a steady uptick in sales (+5%) and volume (+3%) over the past five years, according to Innova Marketing Insights.
With almost half of UK consumers purchasing sugar confectionery in the past year, above the global average of 40%, Stockley’s has benefitted from this trend, driven by its sweet shop favourites, fudge, and Liquorice Flyers, resulting in double-digit growth.
Nostalgia continues to prove popular in shoppers' baskets, despite a strong healthy food movement.
