As fall sets in, Utah's skies come alive with millions of migratory birds funneling through the Great Salt Lake, turning wetlands into one of the top birding spots in the West.
Utah is home to over 300 bird species, and the wetlands of the Great Salt Lake offer a unique opportunity to catch sight of them, including the Forster's tern.
"They're fishing birds," explained Brandon Jones, a bird watcher and a wildlife technician at Farmington Bay. "Flying over and watching for fish from above."
The Eccles Wildlife Education Center at Farmington Bay provides 18,000 acres of managed wetlands right on the edge of the Great Salt Lake, making it one of the best spots in the West to see birds up close.
