Channing Tatum, who plays Gambit, revealed that the canceled Marvel Gambit movie was too extreme for the MCU.
Tatum had wanted to play Gambit on the big screen for some time and finally got the chance alongside other Fox Marvel characters.
“Look…if we’d made our Fox version, that script would’ve never gotten made — ever. It was an R-rated romantic comedy. And when I say R-rated, I mean we went for it,”
Tatum said in an interview with Variety, explaining why the movie would not be made today.
The movie was in active development at one point, but it was ultimately canceled due to its extreme content.
Tatum will reprise his role as Gambit in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
