U.S. Expects Japan to Suspend Russian Energy Purchases

The United States has urged Japan to end its remaining imports of Russian energy, escalating pressure on Tokyo to align with G7 efforts to reduce Moscow’s oil and gas revenues.

According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the U.S. expects Japan to stop importing Russian energy. This was stated after a meeting with Japan’s Finance Minister, Katsunobo Kato.
