Cairo 2025: Egypt’s Powerlifting Queen Rehab Ahmed Wins Fifth Gold

Rehab Ahmed, the Paris 2024 gold medallist, has won her first World Championships title at home in the women’s up to 61kg category after recovering from a chest injury.

China's Cui Jianjin broke the world record twice before winning her first international gold, while Turkiye’s Abdullah Kayapinar dethroned two-time Paralympic and world champion Omar Qarada for his first World Championship gold.

Rehab Ahmed's victory came four months after recovering from a pectoralis major tear, marking her fifth World Championships title and her first medal since the Paris 2024 gold.

Her win is a special one, being her first in a new weight category and at home.
