Djokovic defeated Zizou Bergs 6-3, 7-5 in the last-eight round, securing his 80th Masters semi-final appearance in one hour and 50 minutes.
At 38 years and 140 days, Djokovic is now the oldest semi-finalist at an ATP 1000 event, closing in on his second title of the season.
Djokovic is just two wins away from his record-extending fifth Shanghai Masters title.
