The Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (GAFCON) has announced its decision to cut ties with the Anglican Communion and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
This move marks one of the largest schisms in Western Christianity since the Protestant Reformation launched by Martin Luther.
GAFCON previously described itself as "a global movement, gathering authentic Anglicans, guarding God's gospel, growing orthodox leaders, and generating missional resources, for the glory of God."
Author's summary: Anglican communion faces major schism.
