Council Slammed for Not Providing Lollipop Warden
Independent Councillor Charlie Farrelly requested a school traffic warden on College Road, Castleisland during school times.
The area has three schools and becomes a bottleneck, making it dangerous for crossing. Earlier this year, the council's road safety officer visited the area and observed the dangers.
The council advised that there is no provision in the current budget to appoint a school warden for College Road.
Instead, the council will assess the location and undertake a feasibility study to determine if a warden is warranted. Cllr Farrelly finds this response unacceptable given the road safety officer's firsthand observation of the issues.
The council will consider the request for the next budget.
