Preston Labour lost the seat in Ashton ward amid a six-way fight. Voters in Ashton-on-Ribble chose a new councillor after former council leader Robert Boswell's resignation.
Six candidates were on the ballot paper, representing Labour, Conservatives, Reform, Liberal Democrats, and two independent candidates.
