More than 200 casino workers at Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville plan to strike after a union election was postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Horseshoe Indianapolis, located about 30 minutes southeast of Indianapolis, employs more than 1,400 workers across its racing and casino operations. The property, owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, generated $336 million in gambling revenue in 2024, making it the state’s second-highest earning casino.
Teamsters Local 135 already represents slot attendants and warehouse employees at the same facility, who unionized in 2023. The strike is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 21.
