The US Department of Defense has canceled a tender for cobalt procurement, highlighting the ongoing challenges Western nations face in securing critical minerals.
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) initially sought offers to procure up to 7,500 tonnes of cobalt over the next five years, under a contract valued at $500m, as reported by Bloomberg.
The tender deadline was extended several times, from the original date of August 29 to October 15.
