32-Year-Old Police Constable Dies in Accidental Firing
A police constable died on Friday after his service rifle accidentally discharged while he was on duty at the District Police Line in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said.
Officials identified the deceased as 32-year-old Arfeen Lone, son of Darwesh Lone, a resident of Malangam Tulail in Bandipora.
According to officials, the rifle went off unexpectedly, inflicting critical injuries. Lone was rushed to the District Hospital Bandipora, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, police have registered a formal case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accidental firing.
