Alan Hamel, the 89-year-old widower of actress Suzanne Somers, is sharing his experience with grief after losing his wife to breast cancer in 2023.
The couple was married for 45 years, and Somers had faced multiple bouts of cancer throughout her life. When the disease returned in her 70s, Hamel was not ready to lose her.
She told me she wanted me to “live your life, because you have a great life ahead of you, and I don’t want you to walk around all depressed.
Hamel admitted to struggling with his grief, saying “I moped around for a year and a half” after her passing.
