Early Morning Crash Injures 2, Results in Power Outage
An early morning crash in the Powers community resulted in two people being injured and a power outage at 2:30.
The accident involved a Ford Expedition SUV that went off-road and struck a three-phase Dixie Electric Power Association pole.
- The vehicle snapped the pole and continued moving forward before landing in a nearby ditch.
- A female driver was able to extricate herself from the vehicle, but collapsed afterwards and was breathing.
- A male passenger was found trapped and injured in the vehicle and was safely extradited by a Powers firefighter and EMServ Ambulance Service medic.
Both patients were transported by EMServe to South Central Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A number of Dixie EPA customers were without power Friday morning while restoration efforts were underway.
