New Contract for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services in Essex

A new contract for non-emergency patient transport services (NEPTS) has been awarded in Essex to Health Transportation Group (HTG) by NHS Suffolk and North East Integrated Care Board (ICB).

The service provides free transport to and from hospital and community health settings for patients who would otherwise be unable to get there and back, making over 13,500 journeys a month.

Duncan Scott, senior contracts manager at NHS Suffolk and North East Essex ICB, said: "NEPTS play a vital role in providing access to treatment for thousands of our patients in the local area and we are working with HTG to ensure a smooth transition from our previous providers in April next year."

HTG will take over the responsibility from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust and private healthcare logistics provider EMED from April 2026, with the contract set to run for five years and a possible five-year extension.
