New Data on Police Arrests During Federal Task Force Surge

The City of Memphis has released new data showing the Memphis Police Department made 1,217 arrests in the first four weeks of the Memphis Safe Task Force's surge.

According to the data, 699 of these arrests were for misdemeanor charges, while 518 were for felony charges.

"This is new," said Mayor Paul Young. "We still have our dashboard for the city, it still exists, but this is a new document that we're going to provide on a daily basis during this surge."

The data also reveals that serious offenses, including murders, aggravated assaults, and robberies, remained in the hundreds throughout 2024, but 2025 shows a different pattern.
